THOUGHTS TO PONDER ON
PARENTING WITH MOURNING: The world of parenthood is difficult territory, and maps can't show you
everything. Sometimes this is because of their wandering and opposition,
asking questions for themselves, learning things the hard way.
MODESTY IN THE FORE FRONT: "Modesty" in our time seems to be a forgotten
obligation for men and women! We need often to remember and emphasize what Paul
by inspiration writes to the beloved: "In like manner also, that women
adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with
broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women
professing godliness) with good works" (I Tim. 2:9-10). It is true that
"a worthy woman" is a blessing and help to the world! She is one who
not only professes godliness but who also proves it by her dress and demeanor.
But a worldly man or woman is a curse to many! ! (Tit. 2:3-5).
GOD USES THE BUSY HANDS: “Moses
was busy with his flock at Horeb. Gideon was busy threshing wheat by the
winepress. Saul was busy searching for his father’s lost donkeys. David was
busy caring for his father’s sheep. Elisha was busy plowing. Nehemiah was busy
serving the king. Amos was busy tending his flock. James and John were busy
mending their nets. Matthew was busy collecting taxes.” When Jesus comes to
call us into account, will we answer, “Sorry Lord, but I have just been too
busy?
GODLY
PARENTING: Our children learn so many lessons by hearing and
watching our actions and restraints . The parents are responsible for training
their children whom they have brouqht into the world (Eph. 6:1-4). It is a sad
fact that correct discipline is not practiced by many parents today! (Prov.
22:15). Where will your child live in eternity? This may determine where you will
live in.
FAKE
PERSPECTION IN THE FOLD: Bible exhorts us to appreciate the Truth over
fables ( II Thess. 2:10). Ignorance and indifference are causing great
difficulties in the church today, and they are the main highways to liberalism
and its destruction (II Jn. 9-11). This simply means that some live and teach
in harmony with the Devil’s desires instead of God’s! They may say about what
the Scriptures teach, “I don’t know, and I don’t care!” This causes the
unsteadfast to turn from Truth to error. This is found today in some who may be
preachers, or deacons, and even in some elders.{Acts 28-30}.
THE CROSS ROAD OF LIFE: We are
in the battle for our souls and lives with our enemy Satan! (I Pet. 5:8). Our
children are walking on slippery slopes at times because of the lack of Bible
principles in their lives. The decline of our nation’s morals, as well as those
of some our government officials, is at times very distressing! We must
remember that “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people
(Prov. 14:34). With abortion, drug and drinking addiction, lying,
pleasure-mad-seekers, robbery, lust, selfishness, greed, sexual promiscuity,
gambling, dancing, “and such like” (Gal. 5:19-21), the majority in the world
are living a life calculated to take them to destruction (Matt. 7:13-14). Shall
we as individuals warn, teach, and exhort all to return to the Bible and to
live our life so as to honor God?
GREATEST
USING BIBLICAL SCALE:
When the early disciples asked
the question, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven?” Jesus placed a
little child in their midst (Matt. 18:1-4). The child was lovable and loving,
teachable and humble, without the desire just to be seen or heard, not
egotistical, and this illustrated the Lord’s teaching on “Who is a really
important person” in the church of Christ. The one who is “strong and of good
courage” (Josh. 1:6), the one who stands against denominationalism, and all
other kinds of “isms,” as a good servant in the service of our King, is a
really important person! He or she does not act with apathy, indifference, nor
immorality in their service, but with quiet intent, interest, and love for
Christ and His church, goes about doing good (Gal. 6:10).
