MARRIAGE AS A LIFELONG COMMITMENT... and God’s Rules On One Man One Wife

According to Oxford English Dictionary, Marriage is the legal relationship between a husband and wife.
Lifelong means: lasting or existing all through your life.
Commitment: An act of committing to something or somebody.
Therefore marriage is a relationship one is committed to throughout ones entire life. Ones you are in, God forbids reverse.
According to the words of God Gen. 2:24, ‘Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife and they shall become one flesh.’ Because of the words ‘’cleave and they shall become one flesh.’’  The chemists say, they are not mixtures but now a compound, therefore they are inseparable except death do them part.
Because the two persons involved are inseparable each of them must do everything possible not to pull him/herself out of the marriage. And because no one must pull him/herself out, each must do everything possible to enjoy it (marriage). The book of proverbs 5:18 says: ‘’Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth’’
For anyone to enjoy his or her marriage. (After physical appearance has called your attention), foundation upon which the marriage stands must be strong. Talking foundation here, I mean, marriage must have three solid backing viz:
Spiritual backing,Parental backing and the Government of the federation backing.
Spiritual backing: Before you can asks for anyone’s hands in marriage, you must seek God’s consent and approval. Because He is the only one who knows the end from the beginning. He knows the future of everything. He knows what man does not know, the all –knowing God.
Parental backing: The person you intend to marry did not jump down from heaven. He came to the world through a channel which we call parents. The permission of these people must be sought and get approval.
Government of the federation’s backing:  The Government of the federation must approve the marriage. This is to make sure you are not crossing another person’s part. That you are the sole owner of what you are claiming peradventure you have anything to claim.
Therefore as marriage is a lifelong commitment, it must be well planned. You also need to know that it is between two people. The book of Psalms, Psalm 128:3 says: ‘’Thy wife (not wives) shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children (not child) like olive plants round about thy table’’
Which means the plan of God is that you can have the number of children you want that they may surround your table but one wife to bear them. The book of Malachi 2:14 says: as a man you must not deal with your wife treacherously. Because it is a lifelong contract……. To be continued
