THIRSTING AFTER THE RIGHEOUSNESS { A RESOLUTION}
The world is fast running to an end as the second coming our
Lord Jesus Christ draws nearer than hitherto.
The frequency of disasters in the
world apart from what we are experiencing in our own country, Nigeria indicates
more the imminence of His Second Coming {Rev 22:7,12}
The clarion call is becoming more
strident on daily basis as the value placed on human life diminishes through
mass deaths resultant from Government actions or inaction, religious and tribal
strife as well as man-made disasters.
WHAT IS RIGHTEOUSNESS?
The
Bible says righteousness exalts a Nation while unrighteousness is a reproach
which incurs the wrath of God.{Prov 14:34} Righteousness is therefore staying
on the right side of God, that is abiding and complying with the commandments{
in Exodus 20:1-17, Deut 6:1-5}.
.
Our Lord Jesus compressed the commandments to two, viz “Love God with all your
heart, with all your soul and with your entire mind; secondly love your neighbor
as yourself” {Matt 22:37-40}.
To
be righteous therefore the individual must abhor sins and carnality as Bible
says that all unrighteousness is sin and removal of Grace. Rom 6:1, 13-16.
THIRST AFTER RIGHTEOUSNESS
To
be thirsty implies the situation of lack of water in the body. Scientists indicate
that a large percentage of human body comprises of water and lack of it may
result in dehydration and may lead to death. When you are thirsty, the urgent
need to drink water manifests in the search for it to quench the thirst. In
Psalms 42:1-2, the Psalmist states, “As the hart panteth after the water brook,
so panteth my soul after thee o God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living
God…” It follows therefore that any
person thirsty for righteousness muss make an effort to seek righteousness to
be acceptable before God
